In 1922, the S.S. Kresge Co. - —which would eventually become Kmart— - was awarded a permit to build this 10-story brick and concrete building, which was designed by Brown, Derrick & Preston. Now, the building is called the 35W. The classical frieze relief and neoclassical architecture give the building an elegant, vintage look. 35W is nearby Campus Martius Park, Capitol Park, and the QLINE streetcar route. 24 residential units occupy the upper floors, office space on the second floor, and retail the ground floor.
