Wednesday, June 30, 2021 [DETROIT]– Milk & Froth today announced the grand opening of its brick-and-mortar storefront in downtown Detroit – set to officially open on Monday, July 5. Located in Bedrock’s historic Buhl Building at 535 Griswold Street, Milk & Froth is ready to serve ice cream daily.

Milk & Froth makes vegan and classic dairy ice cream from scratch in small batches, using only the highest quality ingredients and proprietary techniques. Its ice cream is made without pre-manufactured mixes, chemical stabilizers or artificial colors and flavors that have become the norm in ice cream shops around the country.

“We are really excited to be opening our first scoop shop downtown,” said Alexis Matteson, co-owner of Milk & Froth. “The number one question our customers have been asking is how they can get our ice cream year-round, so we are very happy to finally meet that need with our new storefront.”

Co-founders Alexis Matteson & Deion Cao were inspired to launch Milk & Froth after living downtown and struggling to find ice cream that could measure up to their favorite artisanal scoop shops found in other major cities. What started as an ice cream truck popping up all over Detroit three summers ago, Milk & Froth steadily built a loyal following and is ready to expand its reach. They are committed to the continuous improvement of their craft and striving to serve Detroiters the best ice cream in the country.

“Small businesses are at the core of what makes Detroit’s retail and dining scene so special,” said Ivy Greaner, Bedrock’s Chief Operating Officer. “We are so excited to witness these two young entrepreneurs expand and provide our Detroiters and visitors their unique Detroit ice cream experience.”

Milk & Froth will serve over a dozen rotating ice cream flavors – Honeycomb, Butterscotch Brownie, Butter Pecan, Matcha Pistachio, Malt Cherry Chocolate, Orange Cream, Salted Caramel, Chocolate Hazelnut, Roasted Strawberry, Milk Chocolate, Peppermint Patty, Coffee & Cream and Blue Magic.

Hours of Operation:

Monday – Thursday 12-9pm
Friday – Sunday 1-10pm

About Milk & Froth

Milk & Froth lives and breathes ice cream. Since launching in Detroit in 2019, the company has made it their mission to offer classic and original ice cream flavors that customers can feel good about eating, not only because it tastes amazing, but because they’re committed to using only the most wholesome ingredients. Through relentless trial and experimentation, they’re proud to be serving some of the best ice creams in the country. The ice cream they make is free of pre-manufactured mixes, artificial flavors & colors, and chemical stabilizers that have become ubiquitous in the ice cream industry.

For the past few years, founders Deion Cao and Alexis Matteson have been immersed in the study of ice cream, learning from local and national experts in the industry. They’ve coined the phrase “third-wave of ice cream” to describe a movement they’re seeing across the country toward more quality-conscious artisan ice cream. After launching their ice cream food truck, and building a loyal following, they’ve now expanded into a storefront in Downtown Detroit.
