WeWork and Bedrock Partner to Bring Nation’s Premiere Co-Working Space to Downtown Detroit

September 27, 2016 (DETROIT) – Bedrock and WeWork today announced WeWork will expand to downtown Detroit opening in spring 2017. WeWork is a co-working platform that provides shared workspace, community, and services for entrepreneurs, freelancers, startups and small businesses. Founded in 2010 in New York City, WeWork now has more than 65,000 members and more than 100 locations worldwide including Austin, San Francisco, Portland, Tel Aviv and Shanghai.

Downtown Detroit continues to evolve into a vibrant urban core, home to many startups and creative entrepreneurs pioneering innovation across industries from retail and design to mobility and fintech. WeWork will support the already dynamic business community and spirit by providing companies with beautiful, functional space and a network of thousands of members around the world.

“From our vibrant art scene to our growing tech scene, Detroit embodies the same innovative and creative energy that is the foundation of the WeWork community,” said Jim Ketai, Managing Partner and CEO, Bedrock. “Detroit will be home to one of the only WeWork locations in the Midwest and we now have a creative answer to our growing demand for small business space downtown.”

WeWork Detroit will be comprised of two locations on Woodward Avenue, 1001 Woodward Ave. and 1449 Woodward Ave., totaling more than 82,000 square feet of co-working space.

“As we expand into new countries, new cities, and new neighborhoods, our spaces are not only platforms for our members, but also for the communities that surround them.” said Adam Neumann, Co-Founder and CEO, WeWork. “It’s our goal to support Detroit’s already thriving entrepreneurial scene by providing freelancers, startups, and small businesses with the space, global network, and business services they need in order to create a life, not just a living.”

WeWork transforms traditional space into work environments that are responsive to the professional needs and stylistic preferences of today’s workforce. Various plans and pricing are available for both individuals and teams of all sizes with no long-term leases. Spaces are furnished with chic basics such as desks, chairs, lamps, and lockable filing cabinets as well as artisanal amenities such as micro-roasted coffee, tea, fruit water, and beer. Additional perks include hard-wired Internet as well as Wi-Fi, conference rooms, kitchens and lounges, printers and supplies, and access to daily events, both social and professional.
