A block from the Merchant Row shopping area and around the corner from Capitol Park, the mid-rise at 35 W Grand River Avenue was designed by architecture firm Brown, Derrick & Preston and constructed in 1922 as the Stanley Building for Kresge’s discount store. From the 1990s to the 2010s, the 10-story structure of concrete and brick was occupied by Clark Lofts. The property was purchased in 2015 by Bedrock and renovated in 2018 into the 35W apartments, second-level offices and ground-floor retail space.
