Between the Detroit River and Corktown in the West Side Industrial District, the low-rise at 1702 W Fort Street was designed by architecture firm Smith, Hinchman & Grylls and constructed in 1913 as the Edson Moore Building for the dry-goods store. The five-story, trapezoidal warehouse with a concrete frame and a brick face was purchased by Bedrock in 2016. In 2019, architecture firm McIntosh Poris renovated the property into The Assembly apartments, offices and street-level retail space, with a fitness center and an underground parking garage for residents and employees.
